What You Missed in Our Feb 2023 Sessions
Uncovering and Documenting the Scandals in the Family Tree
In the Feb 7th session, I reveal a scandal I discovered in my family tree. I share how to document private notes versus public comments and fact notes. I dive into wills, deeds, and court records. I demonstrate how I use MyTreeTags™. I also share a follow up from the last session in January, showing the spreadsheet I created to identify the people enslaved by my family members.
And I share, again, how (and why it is important) to use one of my favorite resources - the county boundary formation maps on MapsOfUs.org.
New Jersey Quaker Research and Using Family Tree Maker
In the Feb 16th session, I share a brand new tool tip I learned about in the Ancestry Card Catalog. (Yes. Even I still learn new things every single day.) I take a dive into the lives of some of my New Jersey ancestors and look at the Quaker and New Jersey state records available for learning more about them and their families. I spend some time searching Newspapers.com and showing some of the tips and tricks there. And, I demonstrate how I enter the discoveries I make into Family Tree Maker.
British Research on Ancestry and FamilySearch
In the Feb 25th session, I work with some of my British ancestors.
Highlights include:
-how to find a film number from the index to Ancestry to the FamilySearch site
-how to find a FamilySearch Center near you
-how to keep track of what research you need to do on your next visit to a FS Center
